Later Jesus meets again with his apostles. he leads "them out as far as Bethany," which is on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olivess. (Luke 24:50) Despite everything that Jesus had told them about his departure, they still believe that in some way his Kingdom will be on earth. - LUKE 22:16, 18, 30; JOHN 14:2, 3.
The apostles ask Jesus: "Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?" He simply replies: "It does not belong to you to know the times of the seasons that the Father has placed his own jurisdiction." Then stressing again the work they must do, he says: "You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you, and you will be witnesses of me in Jerusalem. in all Judea and Samaria, and to the most distant part of the earth." - ACTS 1:6-8.
