In government, business, and religious circles today, many have paid scant attention to maintaining high values. This, in turn, has produced a sense of loss in the minds and hearts of the population in general. More and more, governments and other leaders are unable to solve their countries' basic problems.

For example, they have been unable to bring an end to war or to curb the rising costs of health care or the bad effects of the illicit drug trade. Many business and religious leaders have likewise proved to be a shocking disappointment because of their corrupt and immoral actions. Little wonder that there is widespread lack of trust in the integrity of those whom people look for leadership.
