IDOLS/IDOLATRY

 
What a lot of people don't know or realize, is that Idols/Idolatry is a practice of worshiping not only just statutes, but having crosses, pictures, (velvet or otherwise ) of the virgin Mary or Jesus or God. And since no one knows what any of them look like,then the fact of actually painting, drawing etc, pictures of these people is idolatry, wearing crosses, or paying more attention to something or someone more than you do worshiping God, is  idolatry,that includes sports, saluting the flag,  singing songs pertaining to country; like America and the star spangled banner, working hours that are not necessary. one must take the time to worship God, if you don't you look bad in his eyes. You cannot worship two Gods and when you spend more working or doing anything else more than you do with God, you are worshiping and idolizing at the same time.  You can only worship Jehovah or whatever it is you spend more of your time on.  You cannot ride the fence.  Jehovah does not accept those excuses.   The Bible basically mentions making or carving shapes from stone wood, or using Gold, Silver or whathaveyou.  But this is because Jehovah expects us to have the good sense to look ahead to what he means. But I have seen nothing but the opposite of that from most people.   Here are the verses pertaining to idols and idolatry.

Psalm 106:34-40 - (34)  They did not annihilate the peoples, as Jehovah had said to them.  (35) And they went mingling with the nations and took up learning their works (36)  and they kept serving their idols and these came to be a snare to them.  (37) And they would sacrifice their sons and their daughters to demons. (38) So they kept spilling innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land came to be polluted with bloodshed. (39) And they got to be unclean by their works and kept having immoral intercourse by their dealings .  (40) And the anger of Jehovah  began to blaze against his people, and he came to detest his inheritance.

Jonah 2:8 -As for those who are observing the idols of untruth, they leave their own loving-kindness.

Acts 15:19, 20 - (19) Hence, my decision is not to trouble those from the nations who are turning to God, (20) but to write to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

Psalms 115:4-8 - (4) Their idols are silver and gold (Now it is anything that makes a person spend more time  with, than they do worshiping Jehovah God. The work of the hands of earthling man. (5) A mouth they have, but they do not speak;(speaking about idols) Eyes they have, but they cannot see;(6)  ears they have, but they cannot hear; Nose they have, but they cannot smell. (7) Hands they have, but they cannot feel; feet are theirs, but they cannot walk; hey utter no sound with their throat.  (8) Those making them will become  just like them, all those who are trusting in them.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 - (9) In my letter I wrote you to quit mixing in company with fornicators, (10) not (meaning) entirely with the fornicators of this world for the greedy persons and the extortioners or idolaters otherwise, you would actually have to get out of this world.  (11) But now I am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person,or an idolater,or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. (eating with such a woman) .\

Ephesians 5:5 -For you know this,  recognizing it for yourselves, that no fornicator,or unclean person, or greedy person -which   means being an idolater has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and of God.

Colossians 3:5 - Deaden therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 

Note: In other words;Do not spend more time with other things, people etc., because Jehovah God comes first and foremost, then people and things. So use the good sense that God gave you and listen to what God says in the Bible.  I am telling it like it is here, because I want people to be close to God and that is what he wants as well.
